Version 1.1 · Dated 25 October 2026 · Takes effect on the date SkillConnect Ltd publishes this document after founder adoption
Key terms. In this document: Platform means the SkillConnect mobile app, the myskillconnect.com website and the Wedding Planner in the mobile app and the guest Event Planner on the website. Customer means a person who uses the Platform to find and pay for event services. Vendor means an independent person or business that offers event services on the Platform. User means a Customer, Vendor or any other person using the Platform. Job means a request for services posted by a Customer. Booking means an agreement between a Customer and a Vendor made through the Platform, and Service Agreement means the terms they agree for it. Dispute means a disagreement between a Customer and a Vendor about a Booking. If our Terms and Conditions define these words differently, the Terms and Conditions prevail.
1. Purpose and scope
1.1 This policy covers reviews and ratings, the content Users upload (profiles, portfolios, photographs, videos, messages and documents), how SkillConnect may use that content, and how to complain about content that infringes rights or is false.
1.2 It applies to every Customer, Vendor and other User of the SkillConnect app, the myskillconnect.com website the Wedding Planner in the mobile app and the guest Event Planner on the website (the Platform). “Content” means anything you post, upload, send or enter on the Platform. Other capitalised terms have the meanings in our Terms and Conditions.
1.3 Complaints about money in a Booking, such as refunds or release of payment, are not content complaints. They follow sections 6, 7 and 8 of our Terms and Conditions.

2. Reviews and ratings
Who can review
2.1 A review or rating may be left only by a Customer who took part in the Booking being reviewed, and only about their own experience of it.
2.2 A Customer has seven days after a Booking is completed to leave a review. Vendors cannot currently reply to reviews, but can report a review they believe breaks this policy.
What a good review looks like
2.3 A review must be honest, based on your own experience, and relevant to the service. It should describe what happened without exaggeration.
2.4 You may give a negative opinion. A review is not a breach of this policy merely because it is critical, disappointing or one-sided. SkillConnect does not remove a review simply because the Vendor or Customer disagrees with it.
2.5 A review may be removed or hidden only where it:
- was left by someone who had no real Booking with the person reviewed;
- is a paid, traded, coerced or reciprocal review, or was left in return for a benefit or to avoid a penalty;
- contains a statement of fact that the evidence shows to be false, for example an account of an event that did not take place;
- contains abuse, threats, hate, sexual content, or private information such as a phone number, address, guest list or identity document;
- is not about the service, for example advertising or content unrelated to the Booking; or
- infringes another person’s rights.
2.6 A fabricated claim differs from a negative opinion. “The photographs were late and I was unhappy with the album” is an opinion about the service. “The photographer never turned up” is a statement of fact that can be checked against records. SkillConnect looks at the evidence for factual claims and does not decide whether an opinion was fair.
Rules for everyone
2.7 You must not offer, ask for or accept money, discounts, rewards or favours for a particular review, and you must not threaten a Customer or Vendor to change or remove a review. You must not use fake accounts or people you know to post reviews. See also our Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities Policy.
2.8 An unsuccessful good-faith dispute will not lower a rating or lead to a penalty (see section 5.4 and the Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities Policy).

3. Content you post: ownership and permission
You keep your rights
3.1 You keep any ownership rights you already have in your Content, including your portfolio images, text and videos. Posting Content on the Platform does not transfer ownership to SkillConnect.
What you allow us to do
3.2 So that the Platform can work, you give SkillConnect a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission, for as long as the Content is on the Platform and for any reasonable period afterwards stated in our Privacy Policy, to host, store, copy, display and format your Content, to show it to the Users who are meant to see it, and to use it for the operation, security, moderation and support of the Platform.
3.3 Any wider use, such as using your photographs or name in SkillConnect advertising, case studies or social media, will happen only with your separate, specific opt-in permission, which you may withdraw for future use.
3.4 If you delete a piece of Content, we will stop displaying it. We may need to keep a copy for a limited time for legal, security or evidence reasons, including where it forms part of an open Dispute. Retention periods are in our Privacy Policy.
Promises you make about your Content
3.5 By posting Content you confirm that:
- you created it, or you have permission from the owner to post it and to give us the permission in section 3.2;
- it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trade mark, image rights, privacy or other rights;
- where it shows an identifiable person other than yourself, you have the right to post it, and you have taken extra care with children and with images or information about health or religion; and
- it follows our Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities Policy.
3.6 We do not check every piece of Content before it appears and do not promise that Content is accurate or lawful. We act on reports and our own checks as set out in this policy.

4. Portfolios and wedding photography
4.1 Wedding photographs and videos often involve several people: the Vendor who made them, the Customer who commissioned them and the guests who appear in them. This section explains how SkillConnect treats that situation.
4.2 Vendor’s portfolio use. A Vendor who wants to show images or videos from a Customer’s event in their SkillConnect profile or portfolio must have the Customer’s permission, and must not show private, intimate or sensitive material, such as images of children, guests in private moments, or anything the Customer has asked to be kept private. The permission may be given in the Service Agreement, in the Booking chat or in the app.
4.3 Who owns the photographs. Ownership of copyright in wedding photographs depends on the agreement between the Customer and the Vendor and on Nigerian law. Under section 28(3) of the Copyright Act 2022, a person who commissions a private or domestic photograph has, unless otherwise agreed, a non-exclusive licence to use it for non-commercial purposes and can stop it being published. SkillConnect does not decide who owns copyright. A Vendor and Customer should agree in the Service Agreement who may use, edit, print and share the work, and for how long.
4.4 Customer’s use. SkillConnect does not stop a Customer from sharing photographs with family and friends for personal use. If a Vendor has agreed usage limits, such as no commercial use or watermark rules, those are matters between the Vendor and the Customer.
4.5 Guests and other people. Where an image shows guests, the Vendor and Customer are responsible for how they use it. A guest who objects to an image on SkillConnect may use the processes in section 6 or 7.
4.6 Moral rights. Nothing in this policy limits a creator’s moral rights under law, for example the right to be named as the author.

5. Moderation
5.1 SkillConnect may review Content and reviews that are reported to us, flagged by our systems, or connected to a Dispute or investigation.
5.2 When we review Content we will look at what the Content says and shows, the report, any evidence either side gives and the relevant rule in this policy or the Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities Policy.
5.3 Possible outcomes include leaving the Content as it is, asking the User to edit it, hiding or removing it, and, for serious or repeated breaches, restricting the account in line with the Acceptable Use and Prohibited Activities Policy.
5.4 Removing a piece of Content is separate from any penalty on the account. An account is not sanctioned merely because Content was removed or a report was upheld. Sanctions need a substantiated finding of abuse, deception, fraud or another serious breach, and an unsuccessful good-faith complaint carries no penalty.
5.5 People make decisions on removal, with tools to help detect problems. We do not decide that Content is fake or deceptive solely because a tool scored it, because metadata is missing or because of one isolated screenshot.
5.6 Where we remove or hide Content, we will normally tell the poster what was removed and why, in summary, and how to appeal. Where telling them could help a fraud, put someone at risk or break the law, we may delay or limit what we say.
5.7 We aim to acknowledge a report within 2 working days and to decide within 10 working days (longer for complex cases). These are targets, not guarantees. A working day is Monday to Friday, excluding Nigerian public holidays.

6. Appeals
6.1 If we remove or hide your Content, or decline to remove Content you reported, you can ask us to look again by writing to support@myskillconnect.com within 14 days of our decision, explaining why you think the decision was wrong and attaching any evidence.
6.2 Where we can arrange it, the appeal will be looked at by a person other than the one who made the first decision. We will tell you the outcome and our reasons.
6.3 If an appeal succeeds, we will restore the Content or take the action requested and correct related records where we reasonably can.
6.4 An appeal does not limit your legal rights. See also our Complaints Handling Procedure for complaints about how SkillConnect handled the matter.

7. Complaints about copyright and other intellectual property
Who can complain
7.1 If you believe that Content on the Platform infringes your copyright, trade mark or similar right, you, or someone authorised to act for you, can send us a written notice. This section follows sections 54 to 56 and 62 of the Copyright Act 2022.
What the notice should contain
7.2 To allow us to act, the notice should include:
- your name, contact details and, if you act for someone else, proof you may do so;
- a description of your work or right, with proof of ownership or licence where you can give it;
- the location of the Content, such as a link or a clear description of where it appears;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, the owner or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate; and
- a declaration on oath that you believe the use is not authorised, and your signature. The Copyright Act 2022 requires an oath for a formal notice.
7.3 The Act requires a written notice.
Where to send it
7.4 Send notices to support@myskillconnect.com with the subject line “Copyright notice”. This is the address we designate for such notices.
What we do
7.5 We will acknowledge a notice within 2 working days and review it. If it appears valid, we will promptly tell the User who posted the Content and expeditiously remove or disable access to it.
7.6 We will not act on a notice that is plainly incomplete without first asking for the missing information, and we may take no action on a notice that is clearly abusive or unfounded.
Reply by the person who posted the Content
7.7 The User who posted the Content can send us a written reply (a counter-notice) explaining why they believe the removal was a mistake or that they have permission. We will pass the reply to the complainant. If the complainant does not respond within seven days of our forwarding it, saying that the use was not authorised, we will restore the Content.
7.8 We act as a platform and do not decide ownership disputes. If both sides disagree, they may resolve it between themselves or through the courts.
Repeat infringement and bad faith
7.9 If an account is the subject of repeated notices, we will send the User a warning after the first notice. After a second notice, where no challenge is pending, we will suspend the account for not less than one month. The User may challenge a warning within 10 days with a signed counter-notice. If we cannot resolve the matter within 10 days of receiving it, it may go to the Nigerian Copyright Commission.
7.10 Sending a notice that you know is false, or using the process to harass or silence a Vendor or Customer, is a breach of this policy.
Other kinds of complaint
7.11 If you believe that Content is defamatory, invades your privacy, shows you or your child without permission, or breaks the law in another way, report it in the app or contact support@myskillconnect.com with details. We will assess it under sections 2 and 5. We do not decide questions of defamation or privacy law and may ask for a court order or other lawful process where the matter is not clear.

8. Wedding Planner content
8.1 Content you enter in the Wedding Planner, such as budgets, guest lists, notes and uploaded files, is your own planning information. Our Wedding Planner Terms and Guest Data Notice explains how that data is treated.
8.2 A payment you note in the Wedding Planner is a personal planning record. It is not proof of a Booking or payment through the marketplace.
9. Messages and chat content
9.1 Messages sent through the Platform may be stored and reviewed for moderation, safety, fraud prevention and to resolve Disputes. They may be used as evidence. See our Privacy Policy for how long they are kept.
9.2 Do not rely on messages sent outside the Platform as being available to us.
10. Limits on our responsibility
10.1 SkillConnect is not the author of Users’ Content or reviews. We do not promise that any review or Content is accurate, lawful or complete.
10.2 Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot lawfully be limited, including your rights as a consumer.
11. Changes and contact
11.1 We may update this policy and will give notice of material changes in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, except where urgent legal or safety reasons require otherwise.
11.2 Questions can be sent to support@myskillconnect.com.
