For event vendors

Find work and agree jobs clearly

SkillConnect is an app where event vendors show their work, apply to jobs and agree the work with customers.

SkillConnect does not guarantee jobs, income or customer numbers.

Jobs near you

Discover Event Jobs

Every job in the app shows where the event takes place, so you can apply to work you can reach. Here is the kind of work customers post, with a fresh set each week.

The jobs here are previews with example budgets, not open vacancies. Each shows the location listed on it, and results are not sorted by distance. Real jobs are in the SkillConnect app.

From first message to payout

How a job works for you

  1. Finding and applying for jobs

Customers post jobs in the app. You apply. For smaller or straightforward jobs the application is simpler (Easy Apply). For bigger or more complex projects you can give more information (Detailed Apply). Either way, the customer looks at your profile and portfolio before choosing.

  2. Talking to the customer

Agree what the customer needs before you start: the date, time, place, what you will deliver and the price. Write it down. Clear details protect you as well as the customer.

  3. Payment requests

When you and the customer agree, you send a payment request in the app. For a bigger project you can split it into milestones. The customer reviews the amounts, what you will deliver and the dates. They may ask for changes. When they are happy, they pay.

  4. Delivering the work

Once the payment is successful you are notified, and you do the agreed work. When you finish, submit the work in the app (or the milestone, on a milestone project). The customer is notified and reviews it.

  5. Customer approval and revisions

The customer has seven days to approve your work or ask for changes. If the customer does not respond, SkillConnect reviews the case and may authorise release. Payment is not released automatically just because those seven days have passed. An open dispute is dealt with before release. On a milestone project, each milestone is approved on its own, and the project is complete only when all the required milestones are complete and approved.

Getting paid

Payout eligibility and standard payouts

Payouts are not instant, and they follow approval.

  • The customer pays before the job starts, and you can see that the job is funded. That does not mean you can withdraw straight away.
  • You can ask to withdraw only after the customer approves the work, and not while a dispute that affects that money is open.
  • We aim to process a withdrawal within 3 to 5 working days. That is a target, not a promise of when the money arrives. Payouts are not instant.
  • Customer payments are processed through Paystack. SkillConnect normally initiates your payout after the customer approves the work. SkillConnect is not a licensed escrow provider.
  • If there is a dispute, an amount that has not been released may be held back from release. A partial refund can be made after a dispute is settled. Settling a dispute does not mean a refund in every case.
  • You accept the general Terms and Conditions. There is no separate vendor agreement. Any fee is shown in the app before you confirm a booking or a withdrawal. Fees can change for future bookings, with notice as the Terms require. This page does not quote a fee.

Example scenario

A job without a written brief

Not a real vendor, but a common kind of problem.

A makeup artist finishes a bridal job. The customer says the look was not what she wanted and refuses to pay the balance. They only spoke on the phone. With a written brief, the date, the price and the agreed look in one place, both sides have something clear to refer to.
