Hire event vendors with more clarity

Post your job, review the vendors who apply, agree the work, and pay through steps that protect both sides.

What SkillConnect helps you do

Find vendors, then decide with the facts in front of you

Find vendors for your wedding or event in the app. Post a job, look at each vendor's profile and portfolio, agree the details, review a payment request before you pay, and approve the finished work.

Everything marketplace related happens in the mobile app. This website helps you plan before you download.

Post a job and review applications

  1. Download the app and post your job. Use Easy Apply for a smaller or straightforward job, or Detailed Apply when the project is bigger or more complex and you want vendors to give more information.

  2. Vendors apply.

  3. Look at each vendor's profile and portfolio. Look for the Verified badge. It means the vendor has completed identity checks and their profile. It is not a promise about quality.

  4. Talk to the vendors you like and agree what you need.

Services you can find: makeup artists, photographers, videographers, caterers, decorators, planners, MCs, DJs, fashion designers, cake makers, venues and more. See All Services

Example profile

Bridal makeup

A profile shows photos of past work, the skills offered and price ranges, so you can compare before you apply.

VerifiedShown here to explain the badge. It means identity checks and a profile completed in the app, not a guarantee of quality.

Find Event Vendors

Every vendor profile in the app shows where the vendor is based. Start with the service you need, then look for vendors near your event.

The profiles here are previews, not real vendors. Each shows the location listed on it, and results are not sorted by distance. Real vendor profiles are in the SkillConnect app.

Agree your requirements in writing

Write it down before you pay

Most event problems start with something that was never written down. Before you pay anyone, agree:

  • The date and time

  • The place

  • What exactly you will receive

  • The price, and what happens if plans change

Pay and approve

What happens after you choose

When you are ready, the vendor sends a payment request in the app. Check the amounts, what will be delivered and the dates. If something is wrong, ask for changes before you pay. You pay only when the request is right.

Once you have paid, the vendor is notified and does the agreed work. When the vendor submits it, you are notified. You have seven days to approve the work or ask for changes. If you do not respond, SkillConnect reviews the case and may authorise release. Payment is not released automatically just because those seven days have passed. An open dispute is dealt with before release.

A bigger project can be split into milestones. You review and pay for each one, and you approve each one separately. Approving one milestone does not approve the others.

Either side can raise a dispute in the SkillConnect app or by email. An eligible dispute raised before vendor payout can pause release while it is reviewed. SkillConnect reviews the agreement and the evidence, and tells both sides the outcome and the reasons. A dispute does not guarantee a refund. Once a payout is processed, reversing it through the normal dispute process may not be possible. This does not affect your rights under applicable law.

Plan before you hire

Set your budget first

The free event planner on this website helps you plan weddings, birthdays, company events and more: set a budget in Naira, keep a guest list, track vendor quotes and agreed prices, record deposits you have paid as your own notes, and follow a checklist and timeline.

No account needed. Your plan is saved in this browser on this device. It is not connected to the app yet.

Example scenario

Not a real customer, but a common kind of problem.

A couple hires a caterer for 300 guests. They only agreed it by phone. On the day, there is less food than they expected. When the number of guests, the menu and the quantity are written down before payment, both sides know what was promised.

Common hiring mistakes

  • Paying the full amount before agreeing deliverables
  • Agreeing by voice note only
  • Not asking to see past work
  • Forgetting to confirm the arrival time
  • Leaving changes unrecorded
